The Village is currently in the process of developing its first-ever Bike and Pedestrian Plan for the community which will include analysis of existing bike and pedestrian infrastructure in the Village, public engagement with community members regarding safety issues and improvements, and recommendation of new bike and pedestrian facilities for eventual implementation. A section of the plan is devoted to exploring infrastructure and policy recommendations for developing Safe Routes to School. Wisconsin DOT Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) grant funds are being utilized to fund the plan development. This planning process formally kicked off in August 2025 with the intention of completing the efforts by June 2026! MSA Professional Services, Inc. is the local planning consultant that was selected to assist with the development of the plan.
Throughout the planning process this page will be utilized to post plan updates, materials for community members to review, and opportunities to engage in plan development like the online community survey and input map, public input meetings, and presentations to the plan Steering Committee and Village Board.
Approximate project timeline:
- Late Summer / Fall – Planning process kick-off and public engagement (Safe Routes to School input included)
- Winter – Plan development and review by Village staff and steering committee
- Spring – Final plan review and public open house
- Summer – Plan adoption
